We have taken a 5.11 TacTec Plate Carrier, yes, the same one that was used in the CrossFit games, we have made weighted plates, manufactured right here in New Zealand, and we have given them a Tactical edge.

When 5.11 Tactical partnered up with CrossFit for the CrossFit Games and modified their ballistic plate carrier to carry weighted plates they created one of the ultimate training accessories to help push competitors past their limits. Running a Murph with a weighted vest was one of the ultimate tests out there!

 What's harder than a Murph? Well, the next year they went even further by using the carrier for a team Murph!

The Plates

We have engineered the plates to have a grab slot so handling them is a lot more pleasant and safer.

The plates are New Zealand made with two weights:

The vest weighs 2.5lb and when assembled with plates:

  • 8.75lb plate (17.5lb pair) + 2.5lb = 20lb total weight
  • 5.75lb plate (11.5lb pair) + 2.5lb = 14lb total weight

IMPORTANT: These plates are meant to be used strictly as a fitness accessory and should never be used as body armour.
