35 years of Leatherman and a Q&A
It's not often that you get to meet someone that has made an impact on you and the rest of the world.
So when we were invited to spend an evening with Tim Leatherman, the inventor of the Leatherman multi-tool, we were very excited!
There have been a number of stories where lives have been saved by a Leatherman. - we even have our own New Zealand one. Click HERE to see the video.
Leatherman created a great series called Tool Tales.

On the way to meeting Mr Leatherman
We headed to MOTAT (Museum of Transport and Technology) in Auckland and were greeted by a hallway of Leatherman trivia that gave us a taster of what was to come.

What was it like meeting Tim Leatherman?
I managed to grab a few minutes with Tim and we spoke about the Leatherman Surge (my absolute favourite), his trout fishing around Rotorua and how he stopped along side a couple of bikers fixing their misbehaving beasts with a Leatherman. I loved the story, Tim had to whip out his passport to prove that he was actually the guy who invented the tool that was fixing the bike. He said it was all smiles from there!
What a great guy! Genuine, charismatic, funny...but the thing that stuck out the most was how close he was to all his tools. You can feel the passion. It's infectious.
We have a great passion for Tactical tools and meeting Tim just made the Leatherman story even better.
